Purging Air from 2 and 3 Way 5000 Series Dampers

1. Depressurize the remote reservoir. This can be done with a screw driver, refill tool, or sharp object.

2. Using an 11mm deep socket, remove the shraeder valve from the reservoir.

3. Open both the high and low speed knobs. For 5200s, you will need to put the compression knob to full soft, remove the knob being careful not to drop the ball bearing inside the knob. This is best done holding the reservoir vertically.
4. Insert the floating piston tool into the valve opening. Screw the rod into the bottom of the floating piston.
5. The shock should be filled with oil a minimum of half full but not more than 3/4 full. The piston shaft assembly is removed from the body at this point. Making sure the reservoir is below the shock, pull the floating piston towards the end of the reservoir. This will pull fluid into the reservoir.
6. Then push the floating piston until it bottoms into the reservoir head. You should hear air bubbles coming to the surface of the oil in the main chamber.
7. Repeat this process 3-4 times until only the oil is being pushed out into the main chamber.
8. There is a small notch in the floating piston tool that serves as a guide to placing the floating piston. For safe operation, place the notch 10mm outside the hole of the reservoir. This allows the floating piston ample room for travel and ensures it will not interfere with the reservoir valving. If at any time the large compression knob is difficult to turn under pressure, it is possible the floating piston is touching the reservoir head. This means the floating piston must be reset.
9. Reinstall the schraeder valve and fill shock and reinstall the shaft assembly.
