Installing Top Mounts on AST 5200 Series and AST 5300 Series Shocks

1. Depressurize the shock completely. It is important that all nitrogen pressure is removed prior to beginning.

2. Depending on model, you will remove a screw on cap or circlip retainer from the top of the strut.

3. Once the circlip or cap is removed you can remove the hose.
4. Install the top mount and nut.

5. Place the hose back in place. This process is best performed by allowing the least amount of fluid to leak from the shock. It is important as you reinstall the hose that pushing on the strut does not push the shaft down and cause fluid to come out. Hold the main shaft as pictured to keep it from compressing into the cylinder.

6. IMPORTANT: If you are replacing a circlip, you CANNOT reuse the original clip. You must replace the clip since the original clip will not retain its strength.
